The 9,100-square-foot office will be located in the spaced once occupied bya stand-alone Citibano N.A. branch, M&T Bank spokesperson Chester Bridgersaid M&T took control of the building in 2006 as part of its acquisitionn of nine Buffalo-area Citibank branches. The current M&r branch adjoined to the plazaa will close and all 23 employeezs will relocate to the new which has been designesd to meet Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentDesign standards, Bridger said.
M&T Bank recently demolished the former Citibank branch to make room for the new Lorenzo Apicella of the Pentagram architectural along with local firmwand , designed the project, which will featurde a glass exterior and an environmental-friendly plumbinbg system to conserve and reduce water use. It coulsd not be immediately determined how much the new building will It willbe “larger than the cost of an averagee branch” due to its LEED Bridger said. M&T Bank currently operates 55 branches inthe Buffalo-Niagaraw region. It is the second largesr deposit-taker in Western New York.
